Brides Just Want to Have Fun

By Alexander Tresniowski/Reported by Wendy Cole

There were no helicopters, no parachutists and no
paparazzi, but the wedding of flaky pop star CYNDI LAUPER to
actor DAVID THORNTON last week was just as colorful as Liz
Taylor's nutty nuptials. Little Richard performed the ceremony.
Paul ("Pee-wee Herman") Reubens videotaped it. Lauper's maid of
honor was her 90-year-old grandmother, which is why Lauper kept
paparazzi away ("I didn't want to spook her"). There was even
a hitch in the hitching: Lauper couldn't get the wedding ring
on her gloved finger. Silly Cyndi! And don't expect married life
to make her less zany. Says Lauper: "I don't feel different."
That's a relief.
